In-person passport applications ending
Starting January 15, in-person passport application services will no longer be available for regular passport services. Canadians in need of these services should contact our new Regional Passport Processing Centre.

Notarial services
The office provides the following notarial services, by appointment only, to Canadian citizens and, in limited cases, to non-Canadian citizens if the documents are intended for use in Canada.

Documents must be in English or French or accompanied by an official translation in English or French.

Authentication and Apostille
Getting a document authenticated or obtaining an apostille is sometimes required before you can use a Canadian document abroad.
The Embassy of Canada to Czechia can issue apostilles for documents issued by the Government of Canada and for documents issued or notarized in the following provinces and territories: Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Labrador, the Northwest Territories, Nova Scotia, Nunavut, Prince Edward Island and Yukon (fees apply). Documents issued by other provinces (Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan) must have an apostille issued by the authorities of the respective provinces.

- Witness a signature on a Statement in lieu of certificate of non-impediment to marriage abroad form (fees apply).
- Clients requiring information about authenticating documents while outside of Canada, refer to Authentication of documents.
Certified copy (certify the document is a true copy of the original):
- Documents presented by a Canadian citizen or a non-Canadian citizen for use in Canada; exceptions apply (fees apply).
- Government-issued identification requiring a certified true copy (fees apply).
Witness a signature (consular officer witnesses a signature):
- Documents presented by a Canadian citizen or a non-Canadian citizen for use in Canada; exceptions apply (fees apply).
- Government-issued identification requiring a witnessed signature (fees apply).
Note: Complete all documents before booking an appointment. Sign all documents in front of the consular officer.
Legalization of Canadian documents for use in Czechia
Have the signature on birth, marriage and death certificates authenticated in Canada by following instructions on the Authentication of documents website.
After authenticated in Canada, have the signature authenticated by the Czech consular services at the Embassy of Czechia in Ottawa.
Payment method
Payment for notarial services are possible by credit card. Use the credit card authorization form.

You may also drop off your application at the Embassy of Canada in Prague without an appointment by placing it in the mailbox at the guardhouse (Ve Struhach 95/2, Prague 6) at any time. Please note that applications submitted this way are forwarded to the processing centre only once per week. For faster processing, we recommend submitting your application directly to the Regional Passport Processing Centre.

Visa and immigration services
- Submit visa applications and study and work permits to a visa application centre (VAC). Book an appointment to give your biometrics (fingerprints and photo) at a VAC. Walk-ins will not be accepted.
- You can book your appointment after you receive your Biometric Instruction Letter (BIL). We are working to increase capacity.
- Submit permanent residence applications and documents to the visa office in Vienna.
- Submit applications to overcome criminal inadmissibility to the visa office in Vienna.
