Applying for a Canadian citizenship certificate from outside Canada and the United States

Notarial services
The office provides the following notarial services, by appointment only, to Canadian citizens and, in limited cases, to non-Canadian citizens if the documents are intended for use in Canada. Note: Documents must be in English or French, or accompanied by an official translation in English or French.
Authentication/Attestation (certify the document signature, the position of an official and the seal are genuine):
- Documents issued in Canada must be authenticated by Global Affairs Canada in Ottawa before the office will certify the documents (fees apply).
- Witness a signature on a Statement in lieu of certificate of non-impediment to marriage abroad form (fees apply).
- Clients requiring information about authenticating documents while outside of Canada, refer to Authentication of documents.
Certified copy (certify the document is a true copy of the original):
- Documents presented by a Canadian citizen or a non-Canadian citizen for use in Canada; exceptions apply (fees apply).
- Government-issued identification requiring a certified true copy (fees apply).
Witness a signature (consular officer witnesses a signature):
- Documents presented by a Canadian citizen or a non-Canadian citizen for use in Canada; exceptions apply (fees apply).
- Government-issued identification requiring a witnessed signature (fees apply).
Note: Complete all documents before booking an appointment. Sign all documents in front of the consular officer.

Passport services
Complete your passport application, add the required documents, pay your fee online and enclose a copy of the payment receipt. Note that we do not accept any kind of cash payment.

2. Drop off your application and online payment receipt in a sealed envelope at the Security Booth located on the Matejki Street entrance of the Embassy of Canada, Monday to Friday from 08:30 - 16:00 (except public holidays).
3. Book an appointment to present your documents in person.
Your passport and original documents will be returned to you by registered mail to the Polish address you’ve listed on your application. You do not have to provide an envelope or pay extra fees for this return mail service. Due to the high volume of applications, we will not answer enquiries on application status or receipt of documents. Incomplete applications will be rejected and sent back to the sender without being processed.
The processing time for passports is 20 working days (around 4 weeks) from the date of receipt of a complete application, excluding holidays and excluding postal delivery time. Please note that as passports are printed in Canada, it is not possible to expedite this processing time.
It is recommended that you do not finalize your travel plans until you receive your new passport.
Emergency passport application
It is the responsibility of the individual to ensure their passports are valid for travel prior to making travel arrangements. If your passport has expired or does not have sufficient validity to accommodate your need to travel, we are unable to guarantee we can process your application prior to your departure date.
Although our offices offer travel document options for urgent cases, these are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Having a flight ticket does not guarantee that your case will be treated as urgent. Please email wsawcs@international.gc.ca to give us details if you are in such a situation before submitting your application.
