WTO: Food Preparations TRQ – Serial No. 982

This Notice to Importers sets out the policies and practices pertaining to the administration of Canada’s tariff rate quota (TRQ) for food preparations under the World Trade Organization (WTO).
This Notice is provided pursuant to the authority of the Export and Import Permits Act (EIPA) and its corresponding regulations and should be read in conjunction with the General information on the administration of TRQs for supply-managed products. It remains in effect until further notice.

1. Definitions
1.1 Food preparations means a product that is included in Items 128 and 158.1 on the Import Control List (ICL) that is classified under tariff item Nos. 0403.20.21 and 1901.90.33 in the list of tariff provisions set out in the schedule to the Customs Tariff.

1.2 First-come, first-served basis means shipment-specific import permits are issued on demand for each shipment, until the access quantity is fully utilized, or to the end of the TRQ year, whichever occurs first.
2. Allocation policy
2.1 The TRQ for food preparations is administered annually on a first-come, first-served basis.
